Okay this post gonna sound like masuk lif tekan butang atas. Hehehe. I just want to share my experience with some strangers who thought that I’m Chinese. Serius tak tipu wey!!! My first experience was few years back in 2008. I was at Stesen Bas Larkin waiting for my dad to fetch me. Tiba-tiba someone tapped me on the shoulder, and when I turned around this Chinese dude start to speak Hokkien to me asking for direction, i knew that because he showed me an address. Ternganga sebentar, then I politely said “sorry, I’m not Chinese. Can you speak English?”. That guy just nodded then he went to different way. When I told my friends about it, they laughed at me. (T_T) Okay fine, first time maybe it was a coincidence kot.

In 2009 I was on my way back to Seremban, I took the afternoon train from Stesen Kempas Baru. My seat was next to this old Chinese lady. She was very kind sepanjang perjalanan from JB to Batu Pahat and we had a long chat. After some time, she asked me, “You punya emak ayah ada orang Cina ka?” On my father side I’m pretty sure there’s no Chinese blood, but on my mother side I’m not sure, so I just say my mom and dad both Melayu. I asked her why. She said something about my face that look chinese, my chin or jaw something like that la. After that she told me, she have one daughter that was raised by a Malay family sebab hidup susahkan masa zaman sebelum merdeka. I asked her “Aunty tak pergi jumpa anak aunty?” She said, “tak mau la~ saya segan sama anak saya.” I feel sympathy for her.

That was the second time people thought that I’m Chinese. Masih tak percaya lagi ke? Hahaha. So I decided after that if there’s someone thinks that I’m Chinese, I’ll make fun of him for real. So nak dijadikan cerita, last September I took a cab to Jusco Tebrau from Seri Alam. Naik je taxi tu saya tutup pintu, tapi tak rapat. Then this Pakcik said “close the door please.” I was like apo bondo ni jang!?? *interior monologue*. Then he asked me “can you speak malay?” that moment seriously I gelak berdekah-dekah dalam hati. This evil mind of mine already saying HERE’S THE CHANCE!! Muahahaha. “Pakcik I can understand Malay, but I’m not fluent in speaking.” *kerek plak aku* So for 15 minutes we borak-borak in English, very rare experience.*smile* I told him I’m from Singapore, visiting a friend there in Pasir Gudang. Then I asked him for any interesting places in JB that he would recommend me to go, and this pakcik sungguh-sungguh cerita. Bila dah sampai Jusco Tebrau, I told him la kan “pakcik, sebenarnya saya ni orang Melayu. Saya duduk Taman Rinting je. Tadi saja nak gurau-gurau dengan pakcik jangan amik hati ea. Ni saya bagi extra sebab pakcik baik hati and pakcik guna meter. Assalamualaikum.” Luckily that pakcik is very sporting and he laughed when I told him that.

3 kali dah aku kena, hehe. These people really made my day *smile*. I’m very pleased to meet people like them again in the future. Actually I would love to have more friends, I mean real friends from different races and culture. Maybe I just don’t have the confident to hangout with them. InsyaAllah one day nanti. Learn New Stuff: Adobe AE Hoyeahhhhh!!!!

*Senyum* Yeah~ saya baru saja cuba belajar cara nak guna software Adobe After Effect, dan inilah hasilnya setelah 1 hari setengah mentelaah tutorial macam mana nak buat. Thanks to Awe sebab bagi saya installer untuk software yang sangat awesome ni. This is just the beginning guys. There are lot of things that I want to explore, insyaAllah in the future i'll make use of the skill I acquired to cheer people up. Salam.

India Chapter: Part6

Minggu lepas berkesempatan untuk mengikuti satu program di Summer Sun Beach Resort, Mangalore. Saya adalah salah seorang daripada AJK yang terlibat bagi menguruskan program tersebut. Kali terakhir menjadi urusetia dan merancang modul seingat saya semasa saya di Kolej Mara Seremban (KMS), itu pun kami hanya mengendalikan program untuk pelajar-pelajar menengah rendah. Merancang sesuatu program untuk rakan sebaya I must say is a big challenge for me. Lepas itu saya membenarkan diri untuk jadi MC bidan terjun which is new to me, sebab saya biasa buat kerja belakang tabir je. Saya pujuk diri saya untuk buang jauh-jauh persepsi negatif orang lain dan buat sebaik yang saya mampu. Tu tak cerita lagi pasal feedback yang ‘sangat inspiring’ *tangan didada mata ke atas* =D

Speaker jemputan telah diterbangkan khas dari Malaysia, penulis buku Aku Terima Nikahnya, Bercinta Sampai Ke Syurga, Murabbi Cinta dan Rindu Bau Pohon Tin. Beliau adalah Ustaz Hasrizal Abdul Jamil. Masa mula-mula jumpa Ustaz face-to-face, teruja habis! Jantung dah dub dab dub dab rasa macam nak jerit je, tapi saya tak la tunjuk perasaan excited tu,. Maintain cool je kan~ *senyum*. Sepanjang 2 hari dengan 7 slot bersama Ustaz tentang The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, saya dapat rasakan perkara-perkara yang dikongsikan oleh Ustaz termasuklah contoh daripada pengalaman hidupnya sangat-sangat bermakna dan inspiring. Dalam hati, saya sangat mengagumi insan yang berdiri di depan saya ini. Itulah perkara paling bahagia berlaku pada saya minggu lepas.

Di penghujung program dengan segala cabaran dan dugaan yang ada, keletihan fizikal dan mental, bukan sahaja peserta malah fasilitator juga, harapnya kami semua dapat pelajari sesuatu yang baru tak dapat banyak sikit pun jadi la. Untuk diri sendiri, saya akan berusaha untuk buat yang terbaik di masa akan datang apabila perlu mengendalikan program dengan rakan sebaya, dan terima kasih kepada HICOM SEMPOI 2011, rakan-rakan AJK modul yang lain ( Nami, Nadiah, Atikah, Atiq) serta fasilitator yang turut terlibat dalam mengendalikan program. It’s been a pleasure working with you guys. Kepada Ustaz Hasrizal, terima kasih atas perkongsian ilmu yang diberikan InsyaAllah ada masa kita akan berjumpa lagi.

“Syurga Allah itu adalah tempat untuk orang-orang ‘hebat’. Maka berusahalah untuk menjadi ‘hebat’ supaya kita dapat bersama-sama dengan mereka yang hebat (Para Nabi, Rasul, dan Sahabat)”

p/s: Ada orang tanya saya ratio good:bad secara overall program yang dijalankan, saya akan bagi 30:70. Ini pendapat jujur yang saya nyatakan sebab saya rasa kami mampu buat yang lebih baik. Tapi takpe, bagi la peluang pada mereka yang pertama kali terlibat dalam pengendalian projek belajar daripada kesilapan. Kalau awal-awal dah gempak nanti ‘kembang’ la plak. Tak ada konsep aku-aku kau-kau bila bekerja dalam kumpulan, baik buruk adalah KITA. b(^_^)d

Be An Honest Practicing Muslim

“Karena sejak saya memulai perjuangan meyebarkan Agama Islam, baik sebelum saya berpangkalan di Mesjid Agung Al-Azhar, atau sesudahnya, saya hanya menuruti satu garis tertentu, tidak membelok ke kiri kanan, yaitu menyebarkan kata Allah dan kata Rasul menurut yang saya yakini, tidak membenci pemerintah yang berkuasa, dan tidak pula menjilat-jilat pemerintah, dan tidak pula mahu menyediakan diri mempermainkan keyakinan agama, untuk mencapai ridha manusia yang sedang berkuasa. Sebab tempat saya bertanggungjawab bukanlah manusia, melainkan Allah semata.”

Why I Choose to Follow Religion? (3)

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Under His guidance I wish to continue, discussing about an article that I read a while ago. It is said that Islam is the youngest religion as it came late in the time of Prophet Muhammad Pbuh when Judaism, Christianity, Torah and Bible are already there. I believe that Islam has come into existence since the creation of the world. I believe all other prophets from Adam Pbuh till Isa Pbuh demonstrated the same teaching:

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

112:1 Say: He, Allah, is One.

112:2 Allah is He on Whom all depend.

112:3 He begets not, nor is He begotten;

112:4 And none is like Him.^a

Prophet Muhammad Pbuh is the last prophet that explains and completes everything that we need to know. I don’t blame any Muslim if he thinks that Islam is the youngest religion because the ways we learn about history in school make us think of it that way. We separate Sirah of the prophets from the world civilization. In the end we’re unable to see the connection between Islam and world civilization. Hopefully those brilliant minds in the field of world history will come up with a new segment in History channel “The times of Prophets and World Civilization” or even write a book about it. I will surely buy one. *smile* Last but not least, regarding the claim that being a Muslim will make you perfect. Nobody is perfect. There is a say:

“semua manusia adalah sama disisi Allah S.W.T. Yang membezakan antara satu sama lain adalah takwa (ketaatan)”

This verse clearly stated that every human being is equal regardless if you are the leader of the world or a person who picks up trash at the park . The Almighty God will value your deeds based on your level of Taqwa, but first you must have a firm belief that He, Allah, Is One and Prophet Muhammad S.A.W is His messenger. The rest, He will decide our fate in the hereafter either we go to the heaven or the hell fire, not the Bishop, Guru, Sifu, Ulama or anyone else. Wallahualam.

Why I Choose to Follow Religion? (2)

I decided to write the second part of why I choose to follow religion after reading this article. If you are Malay and also a Muslim you should read the article. There are three things in the article that caught my attention. Before that let me make things clear, the things that I wrote here is my opinion only based on the little knowledge that I have. The Almighty God knows best.

Some of us including myself sometimes are prone to use the word perfect instead of the Arabic word syumul when describing Islam. For many Muslims when they said Islam is perfect, I think they are referring to the Arabic word syumul. However for non-muslims and also a few muslims the word perfect can be a big issue to them. According to UK English Thesaurus the word PERFECT have many synonyms like complete, absolute, whole, finished, precise, and accurate. For some people they define Perfect as something that explains and discusses everything into every minute detail. They expect the Holy Quran which we Muslims say perfect to tell the biochemical reaction and all the calculations to prove the scientific evidence in the Furqan (other name for Al-Quran) per se.

There is a hadeeth that said;

“ilmu Allah itu jika ditulis dengan dakwat, sehingga kering air laut di muka Bumi pun belum tentu mencukupi.”

Kalau ada depa yang loya buruk cakap macam ni “ala~ internet kan ada. Dunia tanpa sempadan, boleh je nak terangkan semua dengan terperinci.” If that is what you think, fine. Let say Allah S.W.T put everything that we want to know in the Quran, can you imagine how many books of Quran you have to read Vol 1, 2, 3…. , millions of external HD are needed to save The Text. Even the 604 pages of Quran you rarely read, understand the meaning and bring it everywhere, but now you asked for more? Jokes!!! MashaAllah, verily He Knows better. Al- Quran is that thick so that it can benefit everyone not only for the genius. If you read Quran understand the meaning and you follow the teaching InsyaAllah you will be granted pahala. The next thing either you want to do scientific research on every facts that are there in Quran or not is up to you. You can try to be like Abu Bakar As-Siddiq yang membenarkan everything that the prophet said or you can try to be like Ar-Razi or Ibnu Sina the well-known Islamic scholars.
