In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We heard about it
so many times, we watched it in many Malay dramas and it comes to me to ask
this question “Why do we have to wait
until the person who gives us advice is gone, only then we’ll change for good?
Why?” Yes people this is the ugly truth about us.
Only after the
parents had passed away the son will say, back then his parents had told him to
do this and that. Alhamdulillah the son finally realized what his parents tried
to teach him, BUT at that time the parents are not around anymore to witness
his change, to be proud and happy for him.
“When the son of Adam dies his actions come to an end except three
things, a continuing charity or knowledge which gives benefit
or a pious child who prays for him” -Sahih Muslim-
Every knowledge
or advices that the parents gave to his child, whenever the child practices them
the parents will have their shares from those good deeds. This include respecting
the elders, respecting his husband or wife, respecting their friends, covering
the aurat, etc. The same goes with husband, wife, teachers, friends or anyone who had given
advice to us.
The question is why wait
until they have passed away to honor them? Why don’t
we give them their ‘shares’ when they’re still breathing? Why don’t we share the
moment of change with them? Why wait? Don’t say “hidayah tak sampai lagi” ,
remember Usaha, Doa and Tawakal. Take
a moment and think about this my dear brothers and sisters. Doesn’t it feel
much lovelier if the person is there when we change for good? Keep trying my
dear friends, InsyaAllah.
By the time! Surely man is
in loss, Except those who believe and do good, and exhort one another to Truth,
and exhort one another to patience. (Quran 103: 1-3)
