Creative Mind

Even masa sekolah dulu, kalau masuk pertandingan melukis, tema yang diberi 'rumah idaman' 'malaysia pada tahun 2020' 'egypt in the eyes of children'.

Bila main kereta hotwheels plak, sanggup letak buku, bantal semua bawah carpet sebab nak jadikkan macam bukit bukau. KREATIFnya kita dulu.

But now bila dah besar sikit, nak kata KREATIVITI tu hilang tak juga. I also have this problem sometime).

Persoalannya macam mana nak jadi kreatif. Kita sebenarnya sangat kreatif cuma tak sedar sahaja. Macam ayah saya bila dia duduk rumah bosan-bosan, dia mula bertukang. Tahu-tahu dah siap satu box radio kayu. Cadangan saya adalah, bila idea kreatif tu datang terus buat paling tak pun tulis dulu idea tu dekat mana-mana (tapi sebaik-baiknya terus buat) good things shouldn't be delayed. Tengok rancangan tv yang boleh trigger idea macam national geographic channel, kalau kecik-kecik dulu saya selalu sahaja tengok Arts Attack.

Nasihat terakhir saya, kreativiti ini perlukan kesabaran. Bukan semua orang boleh berjaya dengan sekali cuba, dan jangan bagi alasan "I have no patience". As a Muslim kesabaran itu sebahagian daripada Iman. Till my next post. Think creative. Be creative.

Criminal Minds: Part Deux

I already stated my view saying crimes can be nurtured. Now the thing that we don't know is, crime can happens naturally in the sense that the person have some sort of disease which he can't control. This is what I want to share with you people.

Medically there's a condition called psychiatry disease which can be cognitive disorder or conation disorder. Cognitive is more to disorders of thought and perception like for example schizophrenia when the person said there are voices telling him to do this and that, or he perceive something which is not there. Conation is like the person brings the 'imaginary' thought into action like an arsonist/ pyromania (irresistible desire to set fire).

In a simple word mereka ni orang gila (sorry for the word I'm using). You can't blame them for crimes because they're unaware about what they were doing. Even though they are aware about it, they just don't know if it was right or wrong. That's why many people when they got caught, they try to pretend having mental problem so that they will not be punished for the crime (dan-dan nak mengaku gila, time lain bila orang panggil GILA marah plak). Too bad for them we have experts to identify feigned insanity.

So that's pretty much about crimes that happen naturally. I know we have this central dogma bila jenayah sahaja mesti orang jahat, bila bunuh je mesti orang jahat, but try to give ourselves a minute or two to put some thoughts for other possibilities whenever this thing happens. Jangan melatah cepat sangat. The most important thing is to keep reminding each other to be aware of their safety and well being (solat dan keluarga). We can make a difference. *smile*

Criminal Minds: Part Un

Reading all those news, crimes that happen nowadays one might ask "how can a person do that to others?". Crime is it nature or nurture?

From the moment that the child is born, he is under fitrah manusia yang sukakan kebaikkan. Then how come there are still crimes going on nowadays. This is the reason I respect orang dulu-dulu. In the quran and hadeeth also have mention something about "anak-anak ibarat kain putih, ibu bapa mencoraknya, sama ada menjadi majusi, yahudi atau nasrani"

So basically, I think crimes can be nurtured and it can also happens naturally (disease). Nurtured in the sense that the individual has had a bad past experience in life which makes him hate almost everything in this world. He grows up with hatred and vengeance. Just imagine, if a child was raised in an environment where violence is there and people killing each other everyday, he will assume all those things are normal. Rape, homicide, robbery, gang fight. We are the one that show them bad example.

Our action towards others can also cause personality change in some people. We treat them like animal, slave, as if they have no feeling, a piece-of-junk. We enjoy doing all that, but the thing that we don't realize is this people that we bullied if no one guide them, one day they might turn into your-worst-nightmare. We are the one that ignore our brothers and let them go astray.

The point I'm trying to say here is, don't think or act nafsi-nafsi. "Ala crimes semua ni sebab diorg jahat la, tak ada iman la, nafsu gajah" but try to think about it this way " I'll try to make sure my neighborhood is safe, I'll try to help those who are in need." Have faith in Allah because He is the Most Gracious Most Merciful, He is the one that can protect us from any harm. And don't forget to smile, sebab kadang2 bila orang tengok kita senyum ikhlas Allah akan buka pintu hati dia untuk tak buat jahat. Wallahualam

Skeptic what???

As far that I know, all those in my family on my father side have their own personal view about everything. They do share their thoughts with me regarding many issue, politics, extremist, youngsters, food, fashion. Even pokok yang orang majlis bandaran potong bentuk segi empat pun kena 'kutuk'. My uncle said "kenapa tak biarkan je pokok tu tumbuh macam biasa, Allah dah buat mcm tu manusia ni mmg suka memandai-mandai"

I was like "kenapa la pakcik-pakcik aku ni semua suka komen itu ini?" but after sometime I realize what they said does make sense. I mean, they don't criticize something without knowledge. They know about the issue, they know where the mistake is and they also give their suggestion, bukan macam sesetengah orang yang tahu kritik je. Kalau ikut Bahasa Melayu, pakcik-pakcik saya ni memberi NASIHAT indirectly kepada anak-anak buahnya.

The issue now is, people tend to label those who like to criticize things around them as skeptic. Come on, don't be so rude to people who just want to voice out their opinion. I myself sometime do acting like a skeptic person, you know just to share my thoughts. They don't expect you to completely agree with them, but share your thoughts.

The teaching of Islam itself, doesn't forbid us to use our mind to think about hukum-hakam in Islam because it will actually help us to understand our religion much better. Of course there are things which only Allah know the answer.

Medic and I

There is a saying “prevention is better than cure”. I’m an undergraduate student doing my Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), so the past few years I had studied about some disease and the aetiology of it. As time pass, I would say learning medicine do help me to understand Islam much better. I began to realize why Islam forbid us from doing certain things, because all the hukum-hakam in Islam was nothing but to prevent mankind from getting any diseases, let it be sakit yang betul-betul penyakit, penyakit akal, penyakit hati or anything. So basically yeah, Islam adalah agama yang mengesyorkan prevention is better than cure.

One example that I can give is regarding consumption of alcohol. I can’t agree more to that statement because medically, by drinking alcohol you expose yourself to the risk of having atherosclerosis, myocardial Infaction, pancreatitis, leukoplakia, gastritis, peptic ulcer, etc. These are all the initial stage of the disease, wait until it progress to chronic stage with other complications arise and by that time tak dapat den nak nolong ha~. That’s why alcoholic beverage is haram in Islam and with the help of modern studies and all the sophisticated technique it explains why arak itu haram.

Another example is good hygienic practice in daily life. Do you know that there are lot of bacteria around us and as what my lecturer said “we are surviving in the world of bacteria.” FYI there are small group of bacteria which normally colonize on the surface of our skin which we called the normal flora. Thanks to our skin, it acts as the first defence mechanism against bacterial infection. There is a simple way to protect us from getting this bacterial infection (diarrhoea for example) which is by thorough hand wash. Using my ‘logic mind’ (lol) now I realise the scientific rationale of taking wudhu’ (ablution) in Islam.

This is me try to relate the teaching in Islam with scientific evidence. You see, it is our responsibility to seek knowledge let it be medicine, engineering, law or arts and try to relate it with our religious belief, InsyaALLAH it will strengthen our faith. God is always there with us, I realize now there’s no such thing like ‘I want to find god’, it just we don’t see it.

“We just have to
Open our eyes, our hearts, and minds
If we just look bright to see the signs
We can’t keep hiding from the truth
Let it take us by surprise
Take us in the best way”

PEOPLE.PLACES (3)

I want the experience doing these jobs. Jobs which most people pandang-pun-tak-nak, but for me it was really something. Still remember, we were having this camp when I was in form five at Melaka. We were instructed to go out there and randomly do community service. Some went to gotong-royong at this one police station, but of course they have to go through all the Q&A with the officer in charge before they were allowed to do so. What I'm trying to say here is, please don't look down on people who are working at a construction site, mak cik cleaner, tukang sapu sampah. It might look simple but working under the hot sun require a person to show great patience and perseverance.
